ALL - 2K Sports Cancels College Hoops 2K9
If you're excited about the latest installment from 2K Sport's College Hoops franchise, then you're in for some bad news. 2K Sport's parent company, Take-Two, has recently announced that they've decided to pull out College Hoops 2K9 due to some licensing problems.
Apparently, the negotiations didn't work out well between 2K Sports and the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC). The latter is responsible for the licensing and marketing of US College teams for use in video games.
According to Take-Two, “2K Sports has decided not to continue negotiations with the CLC for the license for its top-rated College Hoops franchise, which would have been released next in November 2008. We are committed to providing fans with high-quality, critically-acclaimed sports games, but given our disciplined approach to the business, we do not believe the current discussions would result in an acceptable outcome.”
As of this time, the CLC has not released their own statement with regards to the issue. College Hoops 2K8 was the latest release from 2K Sports off the franchise. It is available on the Sony PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3, as well as the Xbox 360.
