ALL - EA Gets "Racy" With Need For Speed ProStreet Ad Campaign?
Shiny cars and hot ladies usually make a great combination; therefore, it was not entirely a shock that EA opted to tap the help of The Sun's Page 3 models Becky and Amii to help them promote the latest version of Need for Speed. Or is it?
It wasn't so long ago when EA had the reputation for probity in the games industry. But with a new CEO in John Riccitiello, EA is looking the re-energize the company in various areas of its operations, although this does not imply, however, that he had anything to do with this ad campaign.
Not long after this broke, however, EA shut down this campaign saying it "slipped through the proper EA approval process". The campaign was briefly available on the UK tabloid The Sun's page 3 web site. Photos have since been taken down but the video is still circulating around the web.
EA further states that the said promotion for Need for Speed: ProStreet (PC, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii, DS, PSP) was “not appropriate for [the] brand.” The said title was released in the US on November 14.
