ALL - Game Industry Worth Billions
Research firm Strategy Analytics has reported that the online gaming industry is anticipated to be worth 11 Billion US Dollars in four years. The popularity of gaming is fast rising, and online gaming is at its forefront with the unrelenting success of downloadable gaming contents.
When fiscal 2006 ended, the online gaming industry was reported to be worth US $3.8 Billion. And by the end of 2007, analysts have estimated a 25% increase.
Having a huge subscriber base, Blizzard's World of Warcraft is leading the way when it comes to worldwide popularity in terms of Multiplayer Online (MMO) RPG.
'The rapid growth of the addressable market for digital distribution of both PC and console games will help clear the way for distribution of mainstream hit titles which has up to now been restricted to the physical retail channel', states Martin Olausson, Digital Media Research Director at Strategy Analytics.
Console gaming that enables online gaming access, as well as downloading contents and other files on the internet, have helped boost the gaming industry which will undoubtedly expand for the next few years as this appears to be the current trend in the gaming market.
The outreach of broadband services all over the world has also made it possible for more people to avail of these services and enhance their own gaming experience.
David Mercer, Strategy Analytics’ Principal Analyst said, 'The very lucrative opportunity in both the massively multiplayer segment and the electronic sell through market will continue to attract new entrants into the online games market'.
