ALL - Golden Compass Gameplay Details
As the movie version is about to be released in theaters soon and the game version almost nearing completion, Sega is spilling more details about The Golden Compass (PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, PSP, DS, PC).
Dax Berg, the lead designer for the Golden Compass game, shared gameplay details with regards to the game to give fans a taste of what to expect and to excite them a bit.
One interesting feature for this game is the lead character Lyra's Deception ability. According to Berg, “the correlation between the name “Lyra” and the word “liar” was intentional.” It would be interesting to see how the character uses her ability to manipulate and outsmart her enemies.
There is also another tool to be used in this game, called Alethiometer, which Berg reveals as “the direct bridge from the game to the hard core fans”.It will help Lyra find the answers to her questions, and would eventually make up the challenging tasks that Lyra will have to face and overcome.
One other thing that Berg pointed out is the lack (or unnoticeable) difference between the various versions of The Golden Compass. Berg states that “[the] fact that we were able to get the same gameplay you experience on the PS3 into a machine the size of an ashtray (i.e. The PSP) still stupefies me.”
