ALL- Media Create Japan Top Hardware/ Software Sales (week ending July 27/ 08)

When it comes to the software charts, DS' Dragon Quest remains undefeated when the latest figures from the Media Create Japan chart came out. However, this recent victory by the Nintendo DS wasn't enough to overtake the Sony portable console's success in the hardware department.

Spending another week on top, the PSP was able to sell 67, 452 units and reach the 2 million sales milestone. Indeed, it was a memorable week for the Sony handheld. In the top 50 list of games, there were six PSP games overall and two made it into the top ten (Gundam Battle Universe and Eiyuu Densetsu: Sora no Kiseki the 3rd).

Hot on the PSP's heels, however, is the Nintendo DS with 56,968 units sold this week. That is about 10,000 unit less of the PSP. Again, this week the DS was victorious over the PSP in terms of software charts. In the top ten list, there were two DS games and four Wii titles.

At the third spot of the hardware charts is the Wii, selling up to 41,024 consoles for this week. The said console saw a large margin over two other Sony consoles (PS2 and PS3) and the Xbox 360.
