ALL - Media Create Japan Top Software/ Hardware Sales (July 14-20/ 08)
After another week, it's once again time to deliver how the recent week's action in terms of sales department turned out in Japan. The DS remake of Dragon Quest V managed to sell over half a million copies, thus staying strong at the number one position on the Japanese sales charts for yet another week.
Meanwhile, the latest Gundam title from Namco Bandai fought hard on the charts and managed to secure the second place in the weekly sales chart. Placing third is Atlus' Persona 4, which saw a drop after its release in July 10. And making a comeback to the top ten chart is Capcom's Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G which experienced a major drop in the past few weeks.
On the hardware side of things, the PSP still reigns supreme against its other competitors. Nintendo's DS and Wii platforms once again remain strong runners up in the race, with 54,531 and 40,803 units sold respectively. Sony's console platforms followed suite, and Microsoft's Xbox 360 takes the rear guard once again with 4,208 sales.
In terms of the hardware sales department, no other console was able to beat the PSP out of the top spot. The Nintendo DS and Wii came up with solid numbers (54,531 and 40,803 units, respectively), but it wasn't enough to win the race. Then, Sony's own console platforms trailed behind, while Microsoft's Xbox 360 is starting to get used to the last spot.
