ALL - NBA Live 09 Cover Stars Go Global
In its hopes of turning the North American pro basketball league (NBA) into a global institution, NBA commissioner David Stern started out with introducing a team that comprises of European players within the next ten years. This same idea was also reflected in the league's video gaming adaptation, which led Electronic Arts to come up with a list of cover stars for NBA Live 09, which consists of non-American players.
Taking the lead among the cover stars is San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker, which leads the game's main ad campaigns, especially in his home country France. Meanwhile, for those other regions, gamers will get to check out their very own players grace the cover. Los Angeles Lakers power forward Pau Gasol will grace the cover for Spain, Chicago Bulls small forward Luol Deng for the UK, and Toronto Raptors' Andrea Bargnani for Italy.
Beyond the cover, NBA hopes to bring forth more international emphasis with NBA Live 09. In fact, EA has tripled the number of international federation FIBA teams, which lets gamers play among various teams from 24 different countries. The game also has the FIBA World Championship mode which utilizes the same league rules and tournament organization.
NBA Live 09 has been slated for release in various platforms like the PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, and Wii in North America on the 7th of October, and worldwide on October 14.
