ALL - New Hardware Announcements By Sony At Leipzig GC
Sony has released some news during their address at the Leipzig Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany today. Here's what's coming:
Europe will be getting a new PS3 with a 160 GB hard drive as of Oct. 31 at a price of 449 Euros. This will also include about 70 Euros worth of downloadables from the PlayStation Store.
A new PSP was also announced, the previously-rumored PSP-3000. The changes from the slimmer 2000 include an improved LCD screen and a built-in microphone, eliminating the need for using a head set for online play or the messaging programs (Go! Messenger and Skype).
For those in North America, these are coming this way as well. SCEA has announced the 160 Gb PS3 will be bundled with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, a voucher for the PSN game PAIN and a DualShock 3 controller. This limited-time bundle will arrive in November at a suggested price of $499 US.
The new PSP will be in two packages initially- a Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters Entertainment bundle and the 4 GB Memory Entertainment bundle. each will retail at $199 with a core pack eventually avaialable for $169.
Also announced was a PS3 keypad that attaches to the Dual Shock 3. Click on the thumbnail below to get a larger image:
The Wireless Keypad snaps onto the top of a SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller and comes with some nice features, including a mode that turns the main key area into a touch pad like those found on laptop computers. Once in this mode, you can slide your finger on this area to move the cursor on the screen and tap to enter. There will be two short cut buttons on the Keypad that will enable users to jump directly to the XMB’s “Friends” icon and the “Message Box” during gameplay. The Wireless Keypad will launch in late November.
On top of that, the keypad is bluetooth- enabled so you can use this with any bluetooth device you have, not just the PS3.
