ALL - PlayStation Happening Last Week

This year's Tokyo Game Show has already come to a close but the hype all over the gaming world shows no signs of letting up, especially with the upcoming holiday season. Fans are expecting not only new releases but major discounts and extras to go along with their purchase.

As the month of October opens, there are some promising titles that have been announced for release, and pretty sure fans are saving up in time for the scheduled release dates of their favorite games. There's definitely a whole lot of activity going on in the crazy gaming world as console manufacturers are scrambling to provide their loyal patrons the best deals they can possibly come up with.

As it has been for quite a while now, the issue regarding the price for the PS3 shows no signs of ceasing. European gamers have more reason to be infuriated as there is a major discrepancy in terms of prices for the PS3 unit and this is despite the huge potential market in Europe. While US fans can purchase the PS3 for only $499, this price is almost doubled in the $810 European price tag. The same also goes for games and other extras that is available in both continents, but gamers claim that the issue on “unfair pricing” has not been fully addressed by Sony.

This should be a pity as it seems like Project Gotham Racing is headed to the PS3. This news comes after the much-talked about team-up between Activision and game developer Bizarre Creations, which promises to produce more quality games in the future. One of these is Project Gotham Racing which is well under way, with a possibility of turning it into a multi-platform title. Fans are surely up on their heels in anticipation for this one.

And while touching on the subject of games, another exciting racing game is about to be released for the PS3. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is slated for release on October 13, and people are already itching to try its free demo which will be available on October 20, in time for the Tokyo Motor Show. Speculations regarding the technology used on the new rumble feature of the PS3 controller will surely be put to the test when gaming fans try this game out.

Aside from games, PS3 delivers more than the usual entertainment as it has also come up with its debut of Blu-Ray Movie list. It features a nice variety of movies to choose from that suits the taste of any movie fanatic there is from Underworld: Unrated to Memoirs of a Geisha, there is definitely something for everybody.

And just in time for the upcoming holidays, there are some major news on the PS2 regarding two of the biggest music games that will be released soon. US Harmonix representatives have confirmed that the PS2 version of Rock Band will be out in the market on December 10. However, it comes at a hefty price tag of $159.99, which comes with all of the game's peripherals.

The hefty price tag on Rock Band might cause music gaming fans to turn to Guitar Hero III instead, as it exclusively features some old hit songs that The Sex Pistols themselves re-recorded especially for the game.

Moving over to the PSP, there seems to be much hype surrounding the supposed prequel to the Kingdom Hearts II. The game's release in Japan has been confirmed but whether or not it reaches the western part of the world still remains to be seen. But with the game's success in the past, there seems to be no reason why they shouldn't be releasing it in North America and Europe.

There has been lots of talk circulating around on which games are to be released on which platform, and finally there has been an official list of releases for this week (starting October 1). This is a pretty astounding list and would be a nice preview of more games in store for Playstation users. Check out to see which games you'd wish to have on your platform:

- NBA 2K8
- NBA Live 08
- NBA 08
- MLB Power Pros
- Spyro: The Eternal Light

This is just the first week of October, and as the month moves on there's going to be more exciting game releases and happenings in the gaming world. We'll sure to be in on the action and keep you posted as soon as they happen.
