ALL - PS2, PSP Take Advantage Of PS3 Shortage
As the shortage of PlayStation 3 units in North America continues it looks like a lot of people are sticking with Sony for alternatives.
Communications head Dave Karraker said in a statement today PSP sales have increased by 280% and PlayStation 2 sales were up by 115%. Software sales were up as well with PSP titles getting a 168% sale hike and PS2 games getting 115% boost over the US Thanksgiving weekend.
Sony has not yet published how many units of the PS3 have been sold in North America but Karraker says all units that have been brought over so far have been sold with more on the way this week.
¨Feedback from our retail partners is that demand is still incredibly high and that PS3s put on store shelves were quickly snapped up by holiday shoppers,¨ he went on.
¨We will continue to utilise airfreight delivery for the PlayStation 3 to assure a steady stream of systems for North American consumers through the end of the year.¨
As reported earlier Sony plans to get as many as 1 million units to North America by the end of 2006.
