ALL - PS3, PSP Firmwares Now Available
The new firmware updates we reported on earlier are now available for both the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3 via your System Updates.
The PS3 firmware, version 2.36, was just announced yesterday via the US PlayStation blog. This is a very minor tweak to "system stability when playing certain PlayStation titles". The update everyone seems to be waiting for, version 2.40, is coming soon, though. It has been confirmed to include both access to the XMB while gaming plus "trophies", Sony's answer to achievements on the 360.
The PSP's new firmware brings things up to version 4.00. Two main new features here is the addition of an internet search in the Network section and a new feature for video play back. This search is powered by Google, the top search engine on the web right now. In regards to the video, you can now fast forward through a video to a certain spot by pushing up on the d-pad and slow down by pushing down. A small thing but handy, nonetheless.
For those that do not/ can't update via the System Update, we will be adding links to the firmware downloads as son as they become available in the PlayStation Downloads section of our forums.
