ALL - Rainbow Studios Discusses OpenCross Racing In MX vs ATV Untamed

Developer diaries provide valuable insights into the creative process of a game. Brian Coonce, the principal game designer for Rainbow Studios' MX vs. ATV Untamed (PSP, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS), reveals how the Opencross game mode makes this title stand out.

According to Coonce, the principle behind the game's Opencross mode was that it enables players to show off their skill in handling offroad vehicles versus other players in a competitive setting. This is also the reason why their studio designed the tracks in the Opencross mode to be really long, with plenty of obstacles along the way, to keep things exciting.

Also, there is a good variety of vehicles to choose from, in which whatever decision the player makes can affect the outcome of the races in MX vs. ATV Untamed. The point is, it aims to determine which players are the most skilled at being able to perform their best and outrun competitors regardless of the type of vehicle being used.
