ALL - Some Companies Upset With Simpsons Game Spoofs
When Electronic Arts (EA) created The Simpsons video game (Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, PS3, PSP, DS), they wanted it to have the same element in which the animated series is specially known for—its parodying of anything from movies to public figures.
In a recent interview with CVG, The Simpsons lead designer Greg Rizzer has revealed that they got some negative feedbacks from video game companies for their parodying of some of these video games.
He said, “We've definitely had some reactions...It's cool to still know, I feel, that the industry's been waiting for a game like this to come along. It's been too long since we really had one, and of course [there's] The Simpsons being the perfect vehicle to poke fun at the games industry."
While they earned negative reactions from some video game companies, others were game enough not to take the spoofing seriously. Harmonix, for example, who created the Guitar Hero series like the parody poster they created of the game.
Rizzer said, “We made this wonderful parody poster and the guys from Harmonix loved it and we sent them 20 copies of the poster...They just loved it so much.”
