ALL - THQ's Quarterly Forecast Lowered By Analyst
Analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan has once again made a bold prediction: this time he has predicted that game developer studio THQ will suffer from a significantly lower performance than was expected.
THQ, who developed games like Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander, as well as upcoming titles like Saints Row (PS3, 360) and MX vs. ATV Unleashed (Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, DS) was forecast to earn US $244 million for this quarter and for the fiscal year, US $1.15 billion. However, Pachter's predictions was much different with US $255 million for the quarter, and a relatively lower US $1.09 billion for the fiscal year.
The reason for the lowered estimates was the somewhat disappointing results for some of THQ's games like Stuntman: Ignition and Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights, as well as the video game adaptation for the hit film Ratatouille. Previous Pixar film that was adapted as video game is Cars, and unlike Ratatouille, that was a major success.
THQ has previously stated that they will be able to compensate the fees required to create games for owned intellectual properties such as Ratatouille with sales for such games. However, Janco's Mike Hickey thinks that this is not possible considering their own line-up of releases are outdone by more popular titles like Halo 3, Call of Duty and BioShock in the market.
Hickey further points out the fact that no THQ title managed to land in the top 50 selling Wii games in Amazon.
