ALL - US Videogame Laws Under Fire Again
No matter how hard they try it seems the various state governments can´t get it quite right. Two more laws that attempt to keep violent videogames out of the hands of minors are being fought and, in most cases, scrapped.
Minnesota signed a law into place last June that fined a minor purchasing a game rated M by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) $25. This law quickly came under fire from the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). As of now the United States 8th Circuit Court are hearing arguments over a District Court ruling that the new law is unconstitutional.
Down in Mississippi a proposed law would see retailers that sold M and AO (Adult Only)-rated games to minors fined $100. The bill got pushed in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee but was given little support and has now been scrapped altogether.
