Think Sony´s next-gen console is too expensive for you? Think again. It may be a wallet walloping �425 on day one, but according to Sony Computer Entertainment America president Kaz Hirai, the sleek black console will give you at least ten years of loyal service.

In a recent interview Hirai talked about Sony´s intention to give gamers something of value. ¨We´re not going to ask consumers to suddenly buy another Playstation console in fie years´ time and basically have their investment go by the wayside¨. Indeed, this fits perfectly with Sony´s strategy for the PS2, which is still the best selling home console in the world.

So, if you´re getting ten years of service from the Playstation 3, that �425 price tag works out at a measly 11p per day. Well, sort of.
