PS2 - Blitz Banned Down Under
Midway´s Blitz: The League has been refused classification by the Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) and so will not be released in Australia. The reasoning behind this move was the depiction of steroid/ drug use in the game, allowing players to buy steroids and fake urine tests to avoid detection.
¨While the game player can choose not to use the drugs, in the Board´s majority view there is an incentive to use them,¨ said a statement from the OFLC.
¨By using them judiciously, the player can improve the performance of the football team (while managing the negative effects) and have a better chance of winning games, thereby winning bets and climbing the league table,¨ said the Board.
The highest rating available in Australia is MA15+, which marks games for ages 15 and up. They do not have a rating for ages 18 and up as most regions do. Midway was not available for comment.
