PS2 - EA Announces Family Game Night
After Electronic Arts has gained the rights for games based on a variety of Hasbro properties, they are now mapping out plans since early this year on how to use the license. Last February, details trickled in about the first project under this deal which is the Nerf and Littlest Pet Shop, and then it was followed with news of a game adaptation of Monopoly Here and Now: The World Edition.
EA recently announced Family Game Night, which is a compilation that spans from a number of Hasbro's most popular games. As for the development for the PlayStation 2 and Wii, among those included in the six-pack of games are Battleship, Yahtzee, Boggle, Connect Four, Sorry!, and Sorry! Sliders. Hasbro's well-known mascot, Mr. Potato Head will serve as the virtual host for Game Night.
In support of the theme, Family Game Night will feature a multiplayer mode of up to four players (except for Connect Four and Battleship that supports only up to two players). Aside from that, players can also enjoy some faithful re-creations, or remixes of original games. Meanwhile, a few games also includes features that enables you to customize your virtual living room in which you will play, and party game modes for more mini games.
Hasbro started out this Family Game Night marketing promotion since 1998 to encourage families to spend more time together by being able to play around its board game products. The gaming adaptation of this marketing campaign is expected to come this fall.
