PS2 - Original Metal Gear Solid Not A Port In Essentials: Konami
For sometime, speculation has risen with regards to the version of Metal Gear Solid that will be included in The Essential Collection, since many have misinterpreted the information received from a Konami PR and led us to believe that it will be in fact a PS2 port. I'm sure gamers were pleased with the idea because it meant they can now save their game to PS2 memory cards without the hassle of disc swapping.
Furthermore, another information from other sources at Konami has stated that The Essential Collection will have 4 discs, which could mean that MGS would be on 2 discs. They insisted onto CDs, however, instead of a DVD. However, when a Konami PR was reached for clarification on the matter, he finally put an end to all these speculations, as he responds in an email:
"...to be clear, MGS1 is not a port; it's the original game on 2 CD's not a DVD. 'The original Metal Gear Solid will be appearing on PS1 discs. What this means for saving the game, etc, I am not sure...My apology for the confusion."
So, there you have it. Apparently, confusion like this is bound to happen, knowing that lots of gamers are in full anticipation of this game and are eager to hear any new developments. Stick it here for any new details and updates as soon as we have them!
