PS2 - Sony In Legal Battle Regarding BUZZ! Trademark In US
Sometimes you have to wonder if Sony has this big target stuck on its back saying "sue me".
Buzztime Entertainment, a maker of electronic trivia games found in bars/ restaurants as well as running quiz events over mobile phones, cable TV and plug-and-play devices, has filed a suit against SCEE. They allege the BUZZ! line of games for the PlayStation 2 (developed by Relentless Software) infringe on several trademarks and want the games recalled and destroyed, as well as be paid an undisclosed sum of money for damages.
A spokeperson for SCEE has said "We are aware that a complaint has been made against Buzz in the United States, but as is our normal procedure in matters like these we will not be making any public statement."
The trademarks for BUZZ! are still pending for the US- Buzztime is pushing for the US Patent Office to reject Sony's submission.
