PS3 - 500k- 800k PS3s By End Of 06, Says EA
The PlayStation 3 has been a sort of holy grail for gamers since the launch and some game company execs are trying to explain why the thing is so hard to find. Larry Probst, CEO of Electronic Arts, gave his views while speaking to the Reuters Media Summit in New York City including launch shortage info and predictions on future shipments.
He expects there will be between 500,000 and 800,000 units in North America by the end of 2006, which is not quite what Sony had projected (1.2 million). He also believes Sony missed their launch day target of 400,000 units and only had half that amount. While EA did not expect the 400,000 target to be met even they were surprised at how far it was missed.
As of yet Sony still hasn´t released sales figures for the PS3.
