PS3 - Bethesda Explains Why Fan Outcries About Fallout 3 Being Ignored

In an interview with Fallout 3 lead designer Emil Pagliarulo of Bethesda Game Studios, he talked about the inspirations for creating this first-person shooter adventure that is set for release soon. While he stresses the importance of the open-ended aspect in the game, he also tackled another important concern, and that is with regards to Bethesda shunning the fanbase. He answers:

“You listen to the fans and respect their ideas, but once you start designing a game that they want to make specifically, then you can get yourself into trouble.”

That is why Bethesda is focusing on creating a game that they want to play. Then he later revealed that with Fallout 3's momentum, and the fact that it will be released on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, there really is nothing much to worry about what fans are complaining about.

Being holders of one of the most anticipated franchises in gaming history, Bethesda has a lot going for them following the first announcement of Fallout 3's development. That essentially died down once details about the game were revealed and they were accused of butchering the franchise's legacy. But they did not let that stop them from completing the less RPG, more FPS Fallout 3, ignoring the outcries of its fans.

“You have to make the game that you're making and know that it's a good one and continue with that,” he firmly said. But still it cannot keep outspoken gamers from speaking their minds with regards to Fallout 3. Stay tuned for more developments on this!
