PS3 - Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD "Format War" Over?

Rumors had been going around for a few days that Toshiba was maybe going to drop the HD-DVD format following the announcements from various sources (Warner Bros. Studios and Netflix among them) of supporting Blu-ray exclusively in the high def disc wars.

According to an article by Japanese news source NHK, the rumor is indeed true. Toshiba is expected to be taking losses in the hundreds of millions of dollars with this.

Kinda makes the XBox 360 owners that bought the HD-DVD drive look a bit silly now, doesn't it?
