PS3 - Buy Extra Instruments for Rock Band
For months now, there has been rumors circling around regarding the individual price listings for instruments featured on Harmonix, MTV and EA's Rock Band.
It's been revealed that fans will only be able to purchase the $169 all-in-one bundle as soon as the music game is released on November 23 for the Xbox 360 and S3. The PS2 version is slated for release on December 10 for $159.99.
According to a Harmonix representative during the recent Playstation Holiday Press Preview Event held in Toronto, the publishers for the game isn't looking at selling individual instruments from the game until early next year.
The said rep cited two factors as to why the publishers initially decided to release the bundle-only package in the market.
First off, the rep details that “the components in the bundle are not cheap and thus creating a bundle and three other separate packages (guitar, drums, and vocals) would increase costs which could lead to less bundles available at ship.”
Secondly, retailers would prefer having one single bundle instead of four large packages, which could consume so much store space, especially for the holiday season.
Meanwhile, analysts have anticipated some problems that prospective gamers could encounter with the bundle-only form. The guitar, drum kit and mic that comes along with the bundle just does not complete the entire music gaming experience.
