PS3 - Car Damage Coming To GT5: Prologue

One of the common complaints some have had about the "driving simulator" series of Gran Turismo titles is the lack of actual damage to the vehicles. If it's supposed to be a simulator it should simulate the dents and other damage too, shouldn't it?

The problem here wasn't with Sony or Polyphony Digital- the car manufacturers themselves were the ones putting the brakes on this as they did not want to see their precious signature cars get dinged up.

That is about to change soon- in an interview with IGN series creator Kazumori Yamauchihas confirmed car damage will be coming to Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. The feature wil be implemented via a PSN update and is expected to be launched this fall. It will be interesting to see how this will affect gameplay styles once implemented.
