PS3 - Demo Confirmed For Heavy Rain
Launching in early 2010, Sony and Quantic Dream will be releasing a major PS3 hitter in the form of Heavy Rain. Though David Cage of Quantic Dream does confirm a demo will hit, he wonders what scenario they should share with players since Heavy Rain contains so many different types of scenes. While talking to G4, Cage did reveal some details surrounding the demo, his concerns, and why a demo will be important for gamers to try to gain a better understanding of Heavy Rain’s concept.
G4: Have you considered releasing a short demo via PSN of a scene such as the Norman Jayden junkyard fight, to convey what the game is to gamers who don’t follow enthusiast media?
With Heavy Rain set for an early 2010 release Sony and Quantic Dream are gearing up this game for a massive launching. In fact, David Cage of Quantic Dream has confirmed the demo for the game, however they are still looking at what possible scenario they could share with players knowing the different types of scenes available for Heavy Rain.
In a recent interview discussing the said demo, Cage revealed: “Definitely. We are currently working on a demo, which is a real challenge.” He further goes on to detail on this challenge, saying: “Finding one scene that can convey what we are trying to achieve with Heavy Rain is something really difficult...Demos are often a double-edge thing: if you don’t release one, players may think that you have something to hide. We also know many good games that ended up not being massive hits because the demo could not convey the quality of the game behind it.”
Since Heavy Rain is a new concept, it ultimately makes a lot of sense to release a demo to give players a glimpse of what they can expect. And while the game is slated for a Spring 2010 release, you can expect the demo to arrive in the new year.
