PS3 - Details Emerge On Guitar Hero IV

British rock band The Answer has confirmed a few months back that their song will be included in the list of songs that will be featured in the fourth installment of Activision's hit series Guitar Hero. If that still doesn't convince you that there is indeed an upcoming iteration of the record-breaking rhythm game, then maybe this one will. The June 2008 issue of Game Informer magazine has got some lowdown on everything you need to know about GH4.

If you thought that Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PC) was a hard act to follow, then wait till you see GH4. It will be coming to various platforms like the Sony PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii. Although the different platform versions sport the same features, expect a less robust output for the Wii and PS2.

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has revealed that a lot of instruments and vocals will be incorporated into Guitar Hero 4. In the magazine's issue, the instruments were specified as the drums, the bass guitar and vocals. Therefore, it is now possible to create your own sound utilizing all these new additional paraphernalia.

If that's not enough to bring out your inner rock star, you might want to check out the new feature called song creation. While you cannot record vocal tracks (due to storage and copyright issues), it should be interesting to be able to create up to five songs that you can share within the GH tunes community. Here, people can rate your songs and to help your songs earn the good rating, you can even name them and create your own album art. How's that?

There were no exact details yet as to the complete roster of songs to be included. Words were circulating that Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park, and Sublime would be included, but no confirmation with regard to this was made yet.

To top things off, Red Octane has created a new guitar design which will also have an innovative input mechanics. Already sound exciting, huh? More to come soon!
