PS3 - Disgaea 3 Coming To North America

NIS (Nippon Ichi Software) America has confirmed that it will be bringing the latest offering from the strategy role-playing game series, Disgaea, to the PlayStation 3 fans in North America later this year.

Disgaea 3 has already been released in Japan last month and is still awaiting a release in North America. Much like the second installment, it will introduce a new main character and supporting cast. Staples of the game, such as the Netherworld setting and the abundance of knife-wielding penguin helpers (aka Prinnies), will help make sure that the game retains some of the aspects that is distinctly associated with the tradition of the Disgaea series. Just like the previous games, it will feature 2D characters and 3D backgrounds.

Returning for the third installment of the series is the same gameplay mechanics that will once again see players level up their equipment as well as their characters in Item Worlds. There will still be the Geo Panel system, which will, depending on certain colored squares in each level, could mean either bonuses or penalties for the characters who occupy them. Of course, expect some new twists to the gameplay as there will be an all-new Geo Block system that enables players to change a level's landscape and access hard-to-reach areas.

With a T for Teen rating, expect Disgaea to hit stores in August.
