PS3 - DualShock 2 versus Dualshock 3
Along with the release of the new rumble feature on Sony's new DualShock 3 is the hype surrounding the technology used to develop the newest version of the rumbling PlayStation controllers. In recent reports regarding this detail, DualShock 3 will allegedly be using the DualShock 2 technology. So, is it safe to say that we can expect the same old rumble as with the past versions?
Some gamers who have tried the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots TGS demo have stated that basing on which part of the control vibrated, it is pretty much easy to tell from which direction the vibration was coming from.
However, officials at Kojima Productions have denied reports about the same form of technology used with the DualShock 2. He even said that other developers working on some other games such as Devil May Cry 4 received tools to upgrade the rumble to their games.
Kojima Production's Ryan Payton has detailed that the DualShock 3 rumble features are certainly more advanced than its predecessor. But when asked if it is more superior to the DualShock 2, this is what Payton had to say: “Absolutely, yeah. I mean, it feels better.”
