PS3 - "Fewer, Bigger, Better Games": Midway CEO

With only a few more days left before 2007 comes to a close, Midway is already geared up for their upcoming releases for the new year. However, with the new year comes their new marketing stance as well. During a recent interview, Midway CEO David Zucker has detailed that their new game launch strategy for 2008 will be “fewer, bigger, better.”

Also, Midway plans to launch games that will have major Hollywood tie-ins. He cited the major success gained by Stranglehold (PS3, PC, Xbox 360) after it sold a total of one million copies since it was released last October.

As for their launch plans in 2008, Zucker has discussed the upcoming The Wheelman title which would serve as a prequel to a film of a similar name which will star Vin Diesel. MTV Films and Paramount Pictures have gained the rights for the film adaptation.

Meanwhile, Zucker further talked about their game projects for the upcoming year. This will include NBA Ballers (PS3, Xbox 360) and the game version for the pro-wrestling program TNA Impact (PS3, Xbxo 360, Wii). Furthermore, fans of the Mortal Kombat series can expect a new game off the franchise to come out in late 2008.
