Japanese PS3 owners have an upgrade to the system´s firmware available now, bringing them up to version 1.5. Several of the updates include being able to used the Edy prepaid electronic money to fund PlayStation Store purchases (which requires an extra bit of equipment), an update to the PS2 backward compatibility and being able to use your own photos as a system user icon.
There is no word on what other updates, if any, this upgrade does or when it will be made available to North America.
UPDATE- Version 1.5 is now available for download in North America. There isn´t a fully itemized list as to what it entails other than what was reported earlier but sources say this also fixes the problem of PS2 games looking ¨jaggy¨ when played on the PS3.
