PS3 - Firmware 2.10 Available Tuesday? CONFIRMED
The official PlayStation sites for Spain and the UK seem to have inadvertently spilled the beans a day early on a firmware update for the PlayStation 3. The pages said "an update to the PS3 system software was released on December 18, 2007."
Said update is to include DivX support for videos with a small catch- copyrighted files, those made with DivX 3.11 or are larger than 2 GB in size are not supported. Several other features are added in with this update- .wmv video support, Type 3 music bitmapping, Blu-Ray 1.1 support and (sure to be annoying people online very soon) a voice changer. Yes, you no longer have to sound like yourself when fragging someone in Call of Duty or Warhawk online. High and low pitched tones will be adjustable with 5 preset levels.
The pages that showed these details have since been taken offline.
UPDATE: The rumor was true- version 2.1 is now available via the System Update on the PlayStation 3.
