PS3 - Firmware Updare 2.36 Coming Soon, Lempel Confirms 2.40 Features
Eric Lempel, Director of PlayStation Network Operations, has been spending a good bit of time on the official blog today. he has just announced a new firmware update coming to the PlayStation 3 very soon (most likely on the same day as the previously reported PSP firmware update).
Before you get too excited, this firmware update is NOT the often-rumored 2.40. The upcoming update will be version 2.36 and is mainly to improve system stability when playing certain titles.
He did however, confirm the rumors about version 2.40 including both the in-game XMB (allowing you to access all of the functions when playing, including replying to messages) and "trophies", the PS3 answer to the XBox 360's "achievements". No word on when this will come about but Eric did promise more details "shortly".
