A financial report was released by Eidos Interactive parent company SCi Entertainment covering up to the period of June 2007, which tries to address most of gamers' dilemma, and that is a price cut for the PlayStation 3.

SCi Chairman Tim Ryan has also pointed out in his statement accompanying the financial report that a change in pricing would reap long-term benefits for the console. He says, “The Board is of the opinion that the key driver to the acceleration of the installed base of PlayStation 3 will be a further hardware price cut.”

In the financial report, the company's total revenues for the year amounted to US $291 million, which suffered a 20% decrease from last year's figures. Eidos US CEO Bill Gardner further stated that even though the PS3 already took a US $100 price cut last July, it was still not enough to reach the targeted mass market that Sony was aiming for.

There's also been speculation regarding Sony's plans to release a 40 GB model of the PS3, as well as some more expected price cuts for the upcoming year.

And according to Gamesindustry, it is indeed true that SCi is currently undergoing biddings. Some of the bidders for the company are Ubisoft, Times Warner, and an unnamed Chinese company.
