PS3 - GH3 Les Paul Guitar Not Recognized By Rock Band For PS3
While the guitar controllers for both Harmonix's Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS2, PS3) and Activision's Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, PC) are compatible, and though the Les Paul wireless for the Guitar Hero III could also work with Rock Band, it seems that these will not work for the PS3 versions of the games.
If you plug in Guitar Hero III's Les Paul guitar into the Rock Band PS3, it only recognizes the Les Paul as a controller and not as a guitar. Hence, the game will prompt the user to plug in a USB mic before moving on to the game proper.
It is important to note, however, that this issue of incompatibility only goes for the PS3 versions of the Rock Band and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. The Xbox 360 version of Rock Band sees Les Paul working very well, including a few special effects.
