PS3 - Grand Theft Auto IV Date Confirmed

Circle April 29 on your calendars, GTA fans! It's been confirmed that will be the day when Grand Theft Auto IV hits the shelves.

On a related note, the developers held a press event to showcase the XBox 360 version- however, the same features will/ should be in the PS3 version so this will give some insight on what to expect.

Big improvements were made to the combat system as well as how you interact with the people of Liberty City and ways to avoid being caught by police. Here's a list of what to expect:

# Police database: Stealing a police car lets you access to their station database- this marks your queries as waypoints on the map. More expensive cars also come with talking GPS.
# Free-aiming mode: GTA4 now allows you to shoot any where around your car, not just from the sides.
# B-button camera function: Allows the camera to stay focused on your target.
# Friendship rating: More importance has been given to cell phone usage beyond getting mission objectives. It can be used to call your local buddies to build up relationships - think a reverse of getting wanted stars.
# New ways to get caught: Forget to a pay a toll at the bridge, and you'll earn a wanted level.
# Enhanced drunk physics: Having a few too many to drink will have Niko interacting appropriately with the surrounding environment (leaning on cars, running into people, etc.)
# Rocket Physics: Firing rockets into the ground at certain angles will cause it to skip like a stone in water instead of exploding on contact.
# Combat: You can now duck behind objects. You can also either blind-fire (much like in Rainbow Six: Vegas) or pop up and shoot for better accuracy
# Enhanced targeting: Players can now aim for more specific parts on their target's body after getting a target lock. Targets will also react realistically depending on where you cap him/her.
# Hanging on: You can now hang on to moving vehicles, and board them via rapid button presses. At the same time, however, drivers can attempt to shake you off.

We'll have more information on the game as it comes in- stay tuned!
