PS3 - HD-DVD Will Beat Blu-Ray... NOT !
With a seemingly unending war between consoles, the decision by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) to make a price cut on the 60GB PS3 is expected to swing the favor over to the PS3.
However, the HD-DVD group has claimed that the said price cut is not going to do much damage as was expected. They believe that the real battle will be between standalone players.
In a research done in some European countries like UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland, it was revealed that the sales of standalone HD-DVD players outsold its opponents by a large 70% margin. The group strongly believes that gaming does not make any difference in the format wars.
However, the HD-DVD group has failed to take into account Sony's PS3 which can function as a Blu-Ray player and was not included in the research... Doh !
When you factor this into the equation, blu-ray is massively ahead of HD-DVD in the UK and Europe.
