PS3 - Hitman and Tomb Raider coming to Playstation3
Eidos parent company SCi Entertainment confirmed in its fiscal year-end report that it has a sequel on the works for two hit brands, Tomb Raider and Hitman.
Chief Executive Jane Cavanagh detailed in SCi's year-end report that sequels to Just Cause and Battlestations: Midway are in development, as they are also planning to create new versions for hit franchises Tomb Raider and Hitman.
This was just about the only good news out of the recent fiscal report. For this year, the company posted lower revenues as compared to last year's, plus a loss amounting to $60.8 million before tax. This is shocking news knowing that the company managed to rake in a total of $16.4 million in profit last year.
One of the reasons cited as to the cause of decline in revenues were the price cuts on PS2 games, since the developers had to allocate $14.5 million for price protection charges. The company also expressed concern over the near-term prospects of the PS3.
SCi Chairman Tim Ryan sees the need for more hardware price cuts on the PS3 if it wants to reach a long-term commercial success.
