PS3 - Kane & Lynch Hit 1.4 Million Mark; EA's Riccitiello Talks Potential Sales With Take Two/ EA merger
A bit of data was released from SCI/Eidos, and this is with regard to Kane and Lynch managing to sell 1.4 million units.
Although such market performance was far from spectacular, it was a decent worldwide performance for a game that received varying reviews and opinions from critics.
SCI, however, points out that the game could have done much better. In a statement, SCI says “we believe it could have sold more had we optimized the opportunity.”
With the size of SCI/Eidos, they can only optimize their opportunity so far. This relates to EA CEO John Riccitiello's point in his argument last week, with regards to his explanation as to why Take-Two would be better off teaming up with EA.
Riccitiello says, “I wouldn't change a line of code in 'Bioshock,' and the same goes for 'GTA' and 'Max Payne'.” Then, he further adds: “What we would do is sell more of them. Given our scale, we have substantial operations in places we don't believe they have ever visited...That allows us to sell more software and do so more efficiently.”
