PS3 - Latest Firmware Update Available

You may have noticed there is a new firmware update available today. This brings the system up to v. 1.92.

Other sites have run some stories with rumors of what this update does including talking about flash-based wallpapers, automatic power off for the controllers (which would be nice) and other features.

Alas, these are not to be. As expected with a minor update (we had gone from 1.91 to this current version) there is nothing of note here other than improvements to the backward compatibility of some PlayStation 2 games. No word on which games have been fixed.

Do you have any news on possible bugs in this PS3 release, ranging from controller problems, network connection issues and PSN internet browser issues ?

I have seen some people on other forums thinking this update had "broke" their systems but i think this would be their own ineptitude.

i did the update this morning before work and have not seen any problems at all.

I've added the usual firmware downloads in the PS3 Downloads area of the forums for people who don't have their PS3 connected to the internet for whatever reason.

I've also updated the Announcement with what this update er updates.

Do you realise that it only updates some playability issues with some PS3 titles? The update does not even affect titles in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania.

So in a way I presume this update is mainly for the US.

I've still added the UK and AUS downloads though so everybody is up to date with version 1.92 whether we really need it or not.

I need to download it with my PS3 so will do that sometime today
