PS3 - Marvel Vs Capcom 2 Beating Super Street Fighter IV HD Remix In Sales
Capcom closely worked together with Udon Entertainment in bringing Super Street Fighter II Turbo via the HD Remix version. Then, Capcom released Marvel vs Capcom 2 within a few months while filtering the original version.
But the recent announcement made by Christian Svensson, Capcom's VP of Strategic Planning and Business Development reveals some surprising details. According to his released statement, “We have three titles that have drastically over-performed our expectations... The most recent of which was Marvel vs Capcom 2, which we didn't expect to exceed Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HB Remix's numbers, but it has.”
The release of Monster Hunter in the west was one franchise though that wasn't able to meet Capcom's expectations. But they are hoping to give that a boost by launching events such as Monster Hunter Tri University, which will hopefully provide more information about the series to the press.
Svensson further explains, “We are strategically investing in the brand in the West, because we know that as a company we're going to continue to be creating Monster Hunter content, so it behooves us to do what it takes to make it stick here.”
