PS3 - Metal Gear Solid 4 Tops 1 Million In Europe
Although Lego Indiana Jones topped the UK charts this week, Snake still has its own claim to victory. Konami has revealed that their hit game Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots managed to sell more than one million units during its first week in the European market. This means that within a seven-day period, that game was able to rack up over 140,000 sales.
On the other hand, Konami has also revealed that all 25,000 limited edition MGS4 sets that was released in Europe, which includes the making-of Blu-Ray, a soundtrack CD, and "Old Snake" mannequin, was immediately sold out. MGS4's latest achievement was able to overshadow its previous reported success in Japan, wherein it overpassed the half-million mark in the said region after only five days of release.
Martin Schneider, German sales and marketing director for Konami, has revealed a few insights in terms of the game's sales in the region: "MGS4 is nothing short of a masterpiece an epic conclusion to the Solid Snake story." Then, he adds that "[they] are extremely pleased with the positive feedback [they] have received from retail and consumers alike, and will keep satisfying their needs with updates to the game's Extra option, and via new content to Metal Gear Online."
