PS3 - MGS 4 Did Not Help PS3 Sales: Chart Track UK

After only three days in the market, Metal Gear Solid 4 debuted in the UK Charts, and did that in a very remarkable fashion. After securing first place in last week's charts, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures fell from the top spot, making way for Snake to reign supreme.

However, although this seems to be a remarkable achievement for the PS3 exclusive MGS4, Dorian Bloch of Chart Track UK isn't too impressed with this performance.

According to him, the title did not help boost the hardware sales. He said, “[t]here's not a lot to say about it it had minimal impact really. Units were up by seven percent.”

There's no clear reason as to why sales weren't booming as expected, however SCEE have failed to release the Gunmetal Gray bundle in the said region. Still, it's undeniable the tremendous impact the game has had in other regions like Japan, wherein the PlayStation 3 experienced an increase of 700 in sales. With a very stiff competition nowadays, that number is already quite impressive.
