PS3 - MGS 4 News: Altair Costume Confirmed In Game, Closure For Solid Snake
During the recent Konami Gamers' Day, Hideo Kojima himself gave the news that sure did make every gamers out there quite delighted: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is already finished! Konami's Ryan Payton and Ken Iamizumi attested to this statement and also dished out a few details that fans can expect in this new game, before it land to retail stores on the 12th of June.
In the said interview with two of the people behind MGS4, Ryan Payton has denied any rumors that this will be the last Metal Gear title. Payton says, “this is really just the last chapter of the saga of the Solid Snake story.” However, this does not also mean the end of the Metal Gear series itself. To quote Payton:
“[Solid Snake] was a burden [for Kojima] because of all those loose ends. So when you play Metal Gear Solid 4 and when you get to the end, I think you're going to feel that wow, this is a nice closure. All of the weird stuff that's gone on in the past, it's all coming to an end. All those weird questions – everything is answered.”
More over, it has been proven that the initial speculations about an Altair costume added as a bonus in Metal Gear Solid 4 was indeed true. Apparently, Hideo Kojima and Jade Raymond knew each other in last year's E3 and by the time of the Tokyo Game Show, it was decided that the Assassin's Creed costume would be included.
Turns out that initial speculations were right: an Altair costume is added as a bonus in Metal Gear Solid 4! Now how did that happen really? Hideo Kojima and Jade Raymond finally hit it off? Well, turns out that they were introduced during last year's E3, and come Tokyo Game Show, they had a bit of a bonding moment: the result of which was the inclusion of the Assassin's Creed costume.
Ryan Payton also adds that this was one of the remaining few details they've incorporated last-minute towards the wrapping up of the development cycle. However, Ken Iamizumi points out that any last minute addition isn't regular procedure. Payton seconds that by saying that “it's very dangerous because of the code and bug checking.”
Finally, when they were asked on how Kojima and Raymond were able to come to that agreement despite having competing publishers, Payton says that it was all done for the love of the game.
“I think it's a testament to the Ubisoft Montreal team. Ubisoft – which is a very dynamic company – I just don't see them getting stuck in all that red tape. Rather than try to figure out some royalty sharing it was let's just do this, this'll be fun.”
We're pretty sure that news perked you up!
