The PS3 was a bit of a gamble both to Sony and developers. Namco Bandai gives a pretty good example of that- according to them they must sell 500,000 copies of a PS3 game to make any sort of profit. The money spent on graphics alone totalled 1 billion Yen (USD $8.6 million).
One of the main concerns for them has been the lack of PlayStation 3 units currently available. Some analysts say Sony was only able to provide around 150,000 units last week and it is unsure if they made their promise of 400,000 on launch day.
Namco Bandai currently has two titles out for the PS3, Ridge Racer 7 and Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire.
