PS3 – Project Gotham Creator Explains why it Chose Activision
We reported recently that Activision has just recently purchased the British game studio Bizarre Creations. This deal places Bizarre Creations as an in-house development wing of the latter, but still many were surprised with the deal.
Commercial Director Sarah Chudley explained in a recent interview with GamesIndustry the rationale to these latest developments. Since both teams have been successful in their own fields, they both realize that teaming up would lessen the hassle it requires just to create and release a new game. With these team-up they would be able to easily create games from good and reliable developers, while focusing only on providing quality content instead of focusing more on creating a deal to make the project materialize.
“All we want to concentrate on is making great games, rather than the pressures of running a pretty large development studio, searching out deals," says Chudley. And then she further adds, “It was a long and hard path coming to this decision, but we were driven by our desire to continue being able to deliver great games, and to enjoy doing it."
On the other end of the spectrum, Bizarre Creations decided to team up with Activision because it allows developers to expand its creativity and giving them freedom to create the game without the constant fiddling with their work's progress. Just a few of the developers that Activision has worked with include Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Neversoft's Tony Hawk.
Lastly, Chudley concludes, “They are an extremely successful publisher who has a big passion for games, and who have a great respect for all of our teams.”
