PS3 - New Cheaper PlayStation 3 Coming Soon
The latest model of the Sony PS3 called CECHG01 has created a major buzz among the gaming community even before its release.
No particular details yet have been revealed as to the features of this new PS3 version which is currently being tested by FCC. However, insiders have given hints that this 40GB unit would retail at around 399 US Dollars.
For the manufacture of this high-end console, Sony has teamed up with partner firms ASUStek and Hon Hai.
Hon Hai Precision is a major Taiwanese consumer electronics company (otherwise known as Foxconn in the PC hardware market) that will reportedly be working together with Sony in its efforts to manufacture low-priced consoles.
The website EMSNow has also detailed that this deal will also bring about cheaper manufacture of PS3 consoles which will soon be available in the market, along with the production of a targeted 10 million PS3 units worldwide for the coming months.
As one of Taiwan’s biggest players in the electronic industry, it has set revenue records by working in partnership with some major companies such as Appple, Dell, Cisco, and Nokia. Sony has just become the latest addition to this astounding list.
This is in line with Sony’s efforts to produce new PS3 hardware that would cater to the needs of a budget-conscious crowd, but still be able to compete with rivals such as Nintendo and Microsoft.
Sony has not made any formal announcement yet as to the release date of the latest PS3 model, but critics have said that the Tokyo Game Show which will be held on the 20th of this month would be a perfect venue for this.
This is big news and you can be sure we will keep you posted when the exact details of this new PlayStation 3 are officially announced.

I am actually hoping this isn't true. They are going to be p*****g people off with this constant introduction of different configurations. They dissed Microsoft back when the 360 was first introduced for having 2 configurations- Sony has since had 3 versions themselves in a span of just about 1 year and the possibility of a fourth now.
If they were actually worried about the "budget conscious" they would have kept the 20 GB system going.
Hmmm...
I'm in two minds about this. Like Lyndon said, it will be VERY annoying in a way because it's their fourth incarnation of the PS3 console.
But perhaps thios will lead to a change in the way the console is made, and espcially the expense, which could allow Sony to bring a price reduction into efefct by christmas this year perhaps? I know they've knocked the price down over in the US but we still haven't had one. Hopefully this will be the start of the PS3 becoming a slightly more wallet pleasing price allowing for better competition with the other brands.
Let's wait and see how this pans out.
You get what you pay for.....
Just keep that in mind.
