PS3 - New Firmware Tomorrow
The PS3 is getting yet again another firmware update tomorrow, May 24. This will bring things up to version 1.8 in the heirarchy.
One of the main features of this update is one that has been asked for by many- DVD upscaling. This is a feature that is normally used in higher-end DVD players. With this watching DVDs on the PS3 will bring the image up to the highest resolution available, up to 1080p if the television being used has the ability. The scaling will also be used for PS2 and PSOne games.
One other update is to the Remote Play feature, which allows users to control some aspects of the PS3 and use files such as photos, music and videos on the PSP. This update will now make your PS3 available to you over the internet. To use this your PSP will have to be updated to version 3.5, which will be available at the end of this month.
PS3 owners will now also be able to print photos from their hard drive or memory cards using a variety of printers from Epson. No word if this can be done using other brands of printers.
A full list of what the update holds will be posted when available.
