PS3 - New PS3 details

As the launch of Sony´s newest console is drawing ever nearer, we here at Absolute-Playstation.com thought you, the APi community, deserved to be kept up to date with ALL PS3 related tech specs regardless of what they are.

Anyway, GamesMaster, the leading UK multi-format magazine, got their hands on a PlayStation 3 for a day.
So, thanks to the good, and extremely jammy, people at GamesMaster, Absolute-Playstation.com can reveal further details of the PS3.

Now we can finally reveal details of what happens when the PS3 is actually turned on.
It may not seem important compared to everything else, but it’s still nice to know what the front-end screen is like.
Anyway, you may be surprised to hear that the front-end screen is just like the Playstation Portables (PSPs) cross media bar.

The PS3 has seven different options to choose from, which are:
Profiles
System
Photos
Tunes
Games
Web
and Friends

Profiles
Create and store unique profiles, just like XBOX360 Gamertags.

System
The audio and video settings are here. Also, worth a mention, are settings for both a keyboard and mouse.

Photos
Thanks to the PS3s RSX Processor, you can manipulate your photos as if they’re actual 3D objects.

Tunes
There is a 3D Visualizer, possibly similar to the ones in Windows Media Player, which generates different
effects in time to your music and mpeg/Blu-Ray videos.

Games - this is the main one we want to know about.
Obviously, you can load up your PSone, PS2, and PS3 games. You can also manage your PSone, PS2 and PS3
saves from here.
All downloaded content from the PlayStation Network is accessed from here.

Web
You can surf the information super-highway from here, preferably in full 1080p. Anything less than 720p
and the screens will look “super fuzzy”.

Friends
This allows you to see if your friends are online and allows you to send messages via a predictive-text
system or you can even chat via video.
