PS3 - PlayStation Day 08: Motorstorm: Pacific Rift Details

One of the other highlights of PlayStation Day 08 (held yesterday in London) was Paul Hollywood, creative lead for Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, giving some details about the upcoming sequel to Evolution Studios' hit off road racer.

The locale this time is a tropical island instead of the desert, which can pose its own set of hazards to the vehicles- thick jungle growth, volcanoes, waterfalls, cliff tops, etc. are to be dealt with on that race to the finish line.

A new vehicle is also being introduced, a monster truck! It's good for climbing and quick sprints but cornering may be an issue. On the plus side, though, you can easily run over the smaller vehicles (look out ATV riders!).

One thing that was decidedly absent from the first Motorstorm was split screen multiplayer racing. It's included here with up-to- 4 player split screen and up-to-16 player online racing. There is also a total of 16 different tracks to master (or at least try to).

This game looks to be a true sequel and is shaping up nicely.
